Getting in Gear
Following the launch of its Ranger 40 Duo Cordless Nailer / Stapler, Tacwise has revealed details about the gearbox that drives it.
The gearbox runs on a Johnson motor, a series of precision gears and nail driving components. The box manages timings to ensure that leverage during the firing cycle is consistently applied to fixings up to 40mm.
Developed over a period of years, the gearbox has been developed to create a robust unit that won't strip and is sufficiently lightweight to be accommodated within a power tool chassis.
The system has been patented for use in other tools deploying diverse fastenings because of the power leverage given its size to weight ratio.
